House Concert Guidelines |
Thanks for your interest in hosting a House Concert with Dan Meyers and Pilgrim Road Ministries. We are excited about the opportunity to work with you. Let me suggest a few guidelines based on experience, which may help you organize the event.
1. Take this time to invite friends, neighbors and coworkers who you have wanted to reach out to spiritually, or with whom you have been developing an on-going relationship.
2. The living room, family room, or an enclosed porch is the best location for this event. Extra chairs should be available for overflow. Seating is best close and intimate.
3. Candles and good lighting can add to the comfort of the atmosphere created – but not too sleepy or dark so that face-to-face interaction is lost.
4. Outside can be good – weather permitting. Have a back-up plan. The biggest problem with an unplugged acoustic concert outside is sound. Without a sound system, it is very difficult to hear especially when the size of the group is not yet known. The more people, the more spread out things become.
5. If there are children present, you may want to consider child care as an option for those who are restless and small. However, attentive children are highly encouraged to participate and be part of the experience with their families.
6. Refreshments always provide a welcoming atmosphere. Access to any food or drink should be only before and after the concert - not during. The purposes of the House Concert are ministry, sharing, and focus on the message - the fewer distractions the better.
7. Promotional materials, including personal invitations, are available on the web at www.pilgrimroad.org. These materials can be download and printed at home or at your local printer.
These are some things to consider that may help you when planning. Let us know the direction you take, and contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
