Dear Friends, October 13, 2017
The daily task of caring for our children, guiding them in the truth, loving them, and correcting them is a great challenge, but well worth it. I have to remind myself of this as I will leave the house again to the multiple questions asked by our little Hope trailed by Corbin - “Where are you going? What time will you be home? Do you have to go? Please don’t go! Just stay!” I know that amid dealing with it on a daily basis, I need to count my blessings because this time won’t last very long. Isn’t that so hard to grasp?? I know for many of you that you would be encouraged to remind me - “Yes - it passes too quickly.”

My meetings at Starbucks are going well as I have two guys who came one weekend who are both homeschooled and from families of eight kids. Marine “H” and Marine “V” are great guys and have grown up knowing truth - although from different backgrounds. I asked them this question, “What does it mean for you to be a Christian?” I didn’t want to hear an “Afraid of going to Hell” sort of answer, or even a “I want to go to Heaven” sort of answer. I have come to the place where I don’t really know what that means - if it means anything as far as salvation is concerned. We worked through the question with me asking it a second time, then with their eyes fixed on mine, we talked about our great need for Christ as our redeemer. We were separated from God when we rejected the truth of God and believed the lie of the devil. We cannot look to how good our families are or the ways we were disciplined - none of that means anything. Only the forgiveness of our sins bought by the redemption of the blood of Christ can make me right in the eyes of God. As our theme verse this last year has told us, “For you have died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God" ~ Colossians 3:3. It was a very exciting time with these guys! | Marine Vanderwilt, Me, and Marine Crouse |
Saturday Pancake Breakfast | We had our Pancake Breakfast last weekend. We had been running 95 folks for our breakfast, but this weekend - the base was closed down due to the coming hurricane and no one was allowed to leave. So - that’s right - they came to breakfast. I stopped estimating at about 200 guys; there could have been more. It was crowded, and many others thought better of trying to attempt it - unfortunately. We never ran out of pancakes - and we were tired once we had finished. We had some guys volunteer to help with dishes and trash afterwards which was a real blessing. |
Julie and I are so blessed to have you guys praying for us. We are also looking to do some house concerts to share about our ministry if anyone would be interested in hosting one. Just respond to this message and we would like to talk about it!
